Community Child Rescue Centre
The CCRC Home is in the southern Kathmandu Valley. It is officially run by a committee of educated Nepalis. We began helping in late 2007 when the only other donor was a US based adoption agency. After frustration with fund allocation decisions made by some committee members Dharmik ended up effectively running the home from August 2008, and two months later the Americans withdrew all funding citing GFC.
It was from this home that the twins Ganga and Jamuna were rescued in January 2008 and brought back to heath by the SAI home family. How did it get so bad? The main reason was simply lack of funds. One problem was that when funds came they were spent in ways that Dharmik, as a donor, could not agree with (like an office printer rather than child related expenses).
We are still working hard to engage enough $1 a day sponsors to meet the full cost of running this home, which is more than $2000 AUD per month.
We are also working hard to ensure the local government authorities are fully aware of all the structures which underpin the children’s support and welfare. Below some original and now recent images. We are hoping that in future the local committee can manage all the day to day operations and contribute to the fund raising.
